Mohamad Al-Dah: New IStructE President - terrorist sympathiser?

We received the IStructE's 104th president's inauguration speech on 23rd January 2025, but does his background make him a good ambassador for the UK and Structural Engineering?

 · 4 min read

The Institute of Structural Engineer's write-up of Mohamad Al-Dah and his LinkedIn page are quite innocuous:

Mohamad was born in Dubai in 1979 and graduated with an MEng from the University of Oxford in 2002.

But this could belie his true background, political beliefs and agenda.

Mohamad and his family are Arab Muslim Palestinians. His parents were forced out of Israel when it was handed back to the Jews in 1948 following thousands of years of anti-semitic persecution and exile, not least by the Nazis. His family appears to hold a grudge against the UK, US, Israel and Jews for their loss, and support the palestinian cause following the attack on 7th October 2023, which killed 1200 people and took hundreds of hostages, only just now being released.

Mohamad flew to the UK from Dubai to attend a pro-palestine protest in London on 12th November 2023 which is when it was realised he was perfectly happy to bring civil unrest to London for a war happening thousands of miles away that has nothing to do with the UK. It is likely he has attended other protests.

Mohamad most likely sees the UK as responsible for what happened to his family and intends to use his connections to the UK to seek some sort of justice and recompense as he sees it. His children were born in the UK, specifically so they would be registered as British citizens despite his extended family having been residents of Dubai his whole life, and where he currently lives and works for the Dubai Government in the Dubai Land Department.

Mohamad and his wife Lina flew to the UK around 28th May 2017 specifically so that his twins would be born and could be registered here despite having returned to live and work in Dubai for 8 years prior. His older son was similarly born and registered in the UK. The Home Office has been informed to investigate if this registration is unlawful or fraudulent.

This information was passed to the IStructE's Beryl Hixon, Board Secretary and Governance Co‑ordinator on 9th December 2024 and was followed up by Stefan Burkey Governance Manager and Secretary to the Board and later Don McQuillan, Chair of the Board. I warned IStructE that being an ambassador for a UK institution implies that Mohamad's political views and values should be compatible with the UK's official stance, or at least not be prejudiced against any ethnic backgrounds, or show ill-will. However they have decided to ignore the warnings and proceed with the appointment.

I suggested the IStructE conduct their own investigation into the following:

  1. Does he practice Taqiyya - an Islamic practice of deception to conceal religious or political views? (Noting the answer to this question may make any subsequent answers meaningless)
  2. Does he recognise the state of Israel since the internationally recognised declaration in 1948?
  3. Does he recognise Israel's claim to the territories of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem because the UK does not recognise palestine as a state and therefore cannot hold sovereign territory?
  4. Does he recognise that palestine has been given many opportunities to negotiate a two-state solution and gain sovereignty which have all been refused which is why palestine is not a recognised state by the UK?
  5. Does he recognise the reason these opportunities have been refused is because many palestinians and supporters including a large proportion of 2 billion muslims worldwide, and the elected controlling authorities in the palestine territories, want the complete eradication of Israel and the Jews?
  6. Does he support this idea, often enunciated at protests as: "From the river to the sea, palestine will be free" or calling for Intifada?
  7. Does he accept that Israel's war with Gaza and attempts to destroy Hamas and terrorism in and around Israel since 7th Oct '23, have been found by the ICJ to be completely lawful?
  8. Does he support the actions of Hamas, Hizballah or any other organisations proscribed under the UK Terrorism Act 2000?

I doubt they have looked into these matters because the UK institutions and establishment have a tendency to ignore any awkward questions for fear of being labelled racist. I have no such qualms.

A good recent example is the Labour government's refusal to conduct an independent investigation into the gang-rape of hundreds of thousands of British white girls by majority Pakistani muslim men, which continues today supported and ignored by the councils and Police forces of the UK. Another example is the cover-up of Axel Rudakubana's brutal terrorism-fuelled murder including an attempted beheading, of 3 white British girls between the ages of 6 and 9, and attempted murder of 10 others. He was inspired by the Rwandan genocide in which his parents were involved; the cause: muslims vs christians. Axel was found to have an Islamic Jihadi Al-Qaeda training manual and a quantity of ricin with the potential to kill thousands of people. This is just two examples from the last month; there are many more.

Should anyone with a muslim background be allowed in a position of authority in Britain given this clear religious hostility toward anything vaguely Judeo-Christian? There are countless examples of London Mayor Sadiq Khan showing his hatred for Britain and its people; yet another muslim in a position of authority, only put there because London is now majority foreign. Humza Yousaf with his white speech is another lovely example.

You might argue that it is just a few bad apples. I urge you to consider Quran chapter 9 verse 29 as homework.

I have no surprise the IStructE is following the same evasive strategy, no-doubt with support and advice from Stonewall and a DEI policy they can hide behind.

Don McQuillan's empty response included:

As an organisation we are apolitical and recognise the importance of being accessible and inclusive. All members of the institution including Mohamed are committed to upholding the highest professional and ethical standards.

It will be interesting to see if these ethical standards have been upheld in the Home Office's ruling.
